Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since spring of that year.

Victory also signifies he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent reactions on court had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional title, took control to force a decider.

He defended 4 initial chances in a close final set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
